  Double Bucks

Research has shown that a monetary incentives can cause a permanent shift in purchasing patterns for customers using food assistance benefits – and this shift directly benefits food producers. In order to encourage our new customer base to shop at the Market, we are offering an incentive program, “Double Bucks”, to match up to $10 to help SNAP customers stretch their dollar even further. This means that if a SNAP customer spends $10, they will get $20 worth of fresh food.

The Double Bucks Program has garnered much community support. We have been working in partnership with The Durham County Department of Public HealthTransition Durham, Durham CAN, and the South Durham Farmers' Market. So far the program has been funded through grants with RAFI-USA (Rural Advancement Foundation International) serving as our fiscal sponsor. It has also been funded by local sponsorships, a benefit event, individual donations, and a crowdfunding campaign.

If you would like to contribute to our Double Bucks program, THANK YOU! For every $10 given, one family or individual will gain the support of the Double Bucks matching program. Additionally, for every $100 given, 10 families or individuals will receive assistance, and so on. Your support is greatly appreciated!

You can make a tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsor, RAFI-USA. You may contribute to this program at: www.rafiusa.org/donate/dfm. All donations are tax deductible, and sizable donors may be recognized on the Durham Farmers' Market website. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our Double Bucks Program, please stop by the Info Table at the Market.
