  Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the closest ATM?

There is now an ATM at the Pavilion! A portion of the service charge goes to the Market and we use that money to support our SNAP program.

I’m interested in volunteering, how do I go about doing that?

We love volunteers and there are bunch of different ways you can volunteer at the Market! Check out the volunteer section (link) of our website for details and email Jenny for more information.

I’d like to set up an information booth at the Market. How do I do that?

Durham Central Park, our landlord and partner, organizes the non-profit/information booths at the Market in the Sister Cities Grove in the Park. Check our their website for details.

Can I hand out flyers to vendors and customers?

We don’t allow solicitation of any sort at the market. If you are a non-profit, you can apply to set up a non-profit table through Durham Central Park (see question above).

I have a food truck, can I sell at the Market?

We don’t have food trucks at the Market. But, check out our neighbors, the Hunt Street Art & Food Truck Market, they are right around the corner and are open at the same time as our Saturday Market. E-mail huntstmarketfoodtrucks@gmail.com.

Can I play music at the Market?

We love having music at the market! If you are interested in playing, please contact the market manager to get on our music calendar.

Do you sell Durham Farmers’ Market Merchandise?

Yes! We sell t-shirts and tote bags with the market logo. We sell onesies as well as shirts in toddler, childrens, womens, and unisex sizes. Merchandise is available for purchase at the market's info table.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes! We sell them at each market at the info table at the center of the Pavilion. Or, if you aren’t able to come to the Market, contact us and we’ll help you out!

How do I become a vendor?

The Durham Farmers’ Market accepts applications for new vendors once a year during the month of January. We require that all applicants and vendors grow or make everything that they sell and are located within 70 miles of Durham. We keep our vendor ratio at about 75% farmers and 25% prepared foods and crafts. Please read our Prospective Vendor page for more information.

Do you accept SNAP/EBT?

Yes! We accept SNAP/EBT as a form of payment at the DFM, and also offer Double Bucks! Double Bucks are matching dollars for every dollar you spend on your EBT card up to $10 per market. So if you swipe for $10, you can receive $20 in tokens to spend on fresh produce and food products!

To use your EBT card, just visit the information table under the yellow sign where someone will assist you. You can swipe your card for any amount, and you will receive wooden tokens worth $1 each that can be spent only at the DFM.

Do the vendors take credit cards?

Some do, some don’t. The best way to pay for things at the Market is usually cash.

Can I rent the Pavilion when the Market is not operating?

YES! Durham Central Park owns and manages the Pavilion and they rent it out during non market hours. To find our more information, visit Durham Central Park’s website.

When is the next Food Truck Rodeo?

Durham Central Park hosts Food Truck Rodeos on Sunday afternoons several times a year. Check out their website for details.
