I was one of the original vendors of the market . My goal is to show the beauty of this area, especially Durham. The large, amber gnarled roots of the Red Dawnwood tree at Duke Gardens, the diverse store fronts on Main Street, the old Wrigley mural on Parrish Street, the deep purple cut irises at the Durham Farmers’ Market have been some of my many subjects.
I have sold thousands of these signed 4 x 6 photo greeting cards over the last 10 years. Many customers frame them. They are sent around the world. I cherish an e-mail from a female army officer in Iraq who praised a landscape of Duke Gardens for adding “color” to her surroundings and easing her homesickness.
I also sell original postcards. Customers frequently tell me how grateful they are to find a diverse collection of local scenes. My most popular postcards are those from our own Farmers’ Market. I also sell matted 8 x 10 enlargements of landscapes, flowers, and downtown scenes.
