At Chocolatay Confections we enjoy recreating nostalgic flavor combinations with a modern twist. We believe in ethical sourcing and sustainability, and are committed to using the best local and organic ingredients we can find. Our all-natural chocolates and confections are free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors.
Delicious treats have been part of our most cherished memories. Our trips always involve visiting local bakeries and candy shops, our family holidays always include certain nostalgic sweets, even our wedding souvenirs were bride and groom gum balls decorated with sweet icing! When our son Mateus was a toddler he had a severe reaction to peanut butter. After that scary incident; holidays, birthdays and special events (which were once so much fun) became a source of anxiety and concern. Matthew was determined to learn how to make delicious candy Mateus could enjoy as much as we did. In 2010 when the kitchen design company Matthew worked for went out of business, he enrolled in L'Ecole Chocolat's professional chocolatier program where he completed his maitre (master) chocolatier certification. His innate ability to manipulate chocolate and consistently create unique recipes ranked him valedictorian of his graduating class. Dozens of pounds of chocolate creations were made out of our tiny kitchen in New York City and Chocolatay Confections was born.
In 2012, after visiting family in NC we fell in love with Chapel Hill. A few months later we took a leap of faith and moved with our then five year old and three week old baby. In 2013 we became part of the Chapel Hill Farmers' Market and have been embraced and supported by our community ever since.
We are truly excited to be part of the Durham Farmers’ market and hope our chocolates and confections become part of your most cherished memories.
