A family farm for over 200 years, Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm has been raising buffalo/bison since 2001. The animals are raised and finished on grass, hay, and baleage using no growth hormones or antibiotics. All of their products are from the Pleasant’s herd of North American Bison. Cuts available may vary from week to week depending on inventory. Sunset Ridge Buffalo Farm’s products are available at the Durham Farmers' Market as well as the Carrboro Farmers' Market, their home, and on the Internet. Ground bison: (1 lb. brick; 1/4 or 1/3 lb. patties in packs or on sheets)
Bison steaks: Filet, Ribeye, Sirloin, NY Strip, T-Bone, Flank, Hangar
Bison roasts: Chuck, Hump, London Broil, Brisket, Eye of Round, Pot, Rump
Bison Sausage: Hot, Mild, Hot Extra Sage, Bratwurst
Value-Added: Snack Stix (regular, sweet, hot), bison sweet bologna, jerky, hot dogs, summer sausage
Other Cuts: Kabobs/Stew meat, bones with meat, liver, heart, tongue, short ribs, kidney, rocky mtn. oysters, ox tail
Miscellaneous (by request): hides, leather, skulls
Bison are raised strictly on forage grown on the farm. No growth hormones or routine antibiotics are used. Antibiotics are only used when attempting to save an animal's life or eyesight.
