Month: July 2023

Market is OPEN July 29th, 8am – 12pm!

Stay cool with these summer tips & treats!

Well folks, there’s no way around it, it’s hot out there this week! And rain and SHINE we are open and ready to help you stock the kitchen, fill your house with gorgeous flowers, and find the perfect gifts and goods. Here are a couple of tips and treats to help you keep stay cool while enjoying all the market has to offer!

Shop early

We’re open right at 8am, and shopping early means you’ll find the best selections of produce and goods before they sell out, and get to enjoy the market at it’s coolest, shaded from the sun by our east facing trees!

Shaded seating

Enjoy the shade tents on the park lawn! Every week we have shade tents and picnic tables set up on the grassy lawn in the middle of market, and this week we’ll have an extra tent with water misters to help you stay cool!

Stay hydrated

Every week, we have ice water available at the market info table located at the back of the pavilion next to the restrooms to help you stay hydrated!

Cool treats

One of our favorite ways to beat the heat is with our vendors chilled drinks & snacks!  Did you know watermelon juice is 92% water and a simple way to stay hydrated? You can find a refreshing popsicle, or iced watermelon juice and lemonade at the colorful Jewels of Health Farm trailer, located on Foster Street next to South Wind Produce. You can also find iced coffee beverages at Family and Future Chocolate, located under the pavilion next to the market info table. Pick up some handmade peach ice cream at  Kalawi Farms on Foster Street, or varieties of gelato at Celebrity Dairy, under the pavilion. And Homebucha has some great kombucha selections on tap to sip on at market every week!

Make the most of your midweek shopping trip at the farmers market!

Did you know that when you shop at your local farmers market, you have the opportunity to support local, organic, small family farms and help care for the environment? Here are just two ways farmers markets can help reduce our waste! All of the DFM vendors are located within 70 miles of market, with the majority of farms located much closer, which so your food doesn’t have to travel far to make it to your dinner plate. That means your favorite seasonal veggies are super fresh, and reduce the use of petroleum in the  transportation process! Also, one of our favorite parts of shopping at market is watching fruits and veggies come straight from the farmers’ bins to their display table. Buying straight from the source often means less plastic packaging! Take a look at the beautiful produce that will be on display today, and stop by to smell the fresh berries, select that perfect bell pepper, and take home some delicious eats. See you there!
