Fall is here!
What’s your favorite way to celebrate fall? Taking time to recognize the autumnal equinox? Carving pumpkins? Zipping up your jacket for a chilly walk with a hot cup of coffee? We are looking at the chilly morning and warm afternoon forecast for this Saturday and daydreaming about all the fall festivals and cozy moments ahead of us in Durham. Whether it provides an opportunity to enjoy a hearty meal at home with your loved ones, or join friends and neighbors for some delightful fall fun, we hope this season shows you warmth, community, and goodness.
The official start of fall means alot of things for our farmers and creators. They can be harvesting fruits and vegetables that flourish in the colder temperatures, and we are seeing autumn apples, carving and roasting pumpkins, colorful gourds, and crisp greens to name a few. They might be diligently working their fall planting schedules and gently tending promising plant starts. In our experience, fall is a season of complexity: Enjoying the chill while wondering how soon the first frost will come and whether the greenhouse or frost cloth will protect our plant babies. Seeing the brilliant change of color in the trees and knowing that soon the leaves will fall and at some point, we will eagerly look for signs of the new buds of spring. Sensing the quiet and rest that this time can offer, while planning for trips to see family and all of that the holiday season can bring.
In this season of beauty and uncertainty, we can’t think of a better way to engage with our community and rest in the things that matter, than by supporting our wonderful community of producers as they prepare for the fall, while bringing their bountiful offerings every week for us to peruse with ohhs and ahhs, and take home to enjoy. Whether you are stocking up on groceries, getting started early on your holiday shopping and stocking stuffers, or just coming out to snack on a pastry and coffee while you enjoy how beautiful our community looks when we come together on a Saturday morning, we can’t wait to celebrate the first market of fall with you. It’s going to be a beautiful day.
See you Saturday!
