Shop Local for National Farmers’ Market Week on Saturday, August 10

Happy National Farmers’ Market Week! Why do we love shopping at local markets? Check out the top 5 reasons below and share with us what you love!

Farmers’ markets:
1.) Preserve farmland
2.) Stimulate local economies
3.) Increase access to nutritious food
4.) Support healthy communities
5.) Promote sustainability

We look forward to welcoming you to market to share in the local produce, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, crafts, and more! All vendors at the market come from 70 miles away or less. This means that the produce was most likely picked just the day before, making sure that it is as fresh as possible! Farmers love to share their favorite recipes or tell you how your food was grown, making farmers’ markets a very special place to shop.

Don’t miss one of our own farmers, Martha Mobley of Meadow Lane Farm, as she joins Frank Stasio on WUNC’s “The State of Things.” Martha will be sharing her life story as a woman farmer and business owner in North Carolina. Check out WUNC on Monday to hear her story or download wherever you get your podcasts!
