Hey Durham Farmers Market Family!

As part of our Rent and Relief GoFundMe fundraising campaign for the Durham Farmers Market ( – we want to share with you some of the stories of the community members that you are helping to support! The farmers, crafters, brewers, and creators of all kinds that contribute to this abundant and lively market are so passionate and dedicated to to their craft and to serving the community! By supporting DFM, you are not only showing your support and appreciation to the makers that vend at market each week, but you are also making it possible for so many of us in the Durham and surrounding communities to enjoy and be nourished by these amazing and lovingly grown and created foods, crafts, and beverages!

Today we want to introduce you to one of our incredibly dedicated farms – Wild Scallions!

“Wild Scallions farm rests on 40 acres on the slope of Mount Tirzah in southern Person County.  Our farm includes over three acres of cultivated fields, a holistic orchard, and a passive solar greenhouse.  We try to listen to our land and intermix perennial crops, flowering shrubs, wild lands and song bird habitat amongst our fields.  We grow vegetables and flowers year-round with the aid of our two hoop-houses, plastic covered structures only heated by the sun.  We constantly strive to improve our land and practice crop rotation, cover cropping, minimal tillage, and include farm animals to help us with this effort.  Farm animals include chickens and dairy goats. Our flowers and produce are available year-round at our farm in Southern Person County and at the Durham Farmer’s market every Saturday.  All of our crops are sustainably grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers for healthful foods from healthy fields.“
