Wild Scallions Farm

Wednesday Market is OPEN Today, August 2nd, 3pm – 6pm

Celebrate the first market of August at the DFM!

Who knew the first week of our hottest month of the summer would bring us nice cool mornings and a bit of a break from the heat? We woke up today with a slight chill in the air and it felt WONDERFUL. Today is going to be a great day to shop at the market, and we hope you’ll join us!

National Farmers Market week is just around the corner, August 6-12th, and we will be highlighting some of the most wonderful ways that farmers markets help our communities, environment, and local economy in the days to come. None of this would happen without you, and we are so grateful for all of our neighbors who call the DFM their home for shopping local. If you have a moment to spare, we need your help this summer during the America’s Farmers Market celebration and market competition. Scroll down to read more about the $5,000 we could win to help fund important market programs, and cast your vote! Thanks, Durham!

This week’s recipe: Chilled Corn Soup with Tomato-Bacon Toasts

from marthastewart.com

With warm summer temperatures and lots of fresh corn and tomatoes in season, it’s the perfect time to try a new chilled summer soup recipe! From the chefs: “Our summery spin on the classic grilled cheese-and-soup combo! Ripe tomatoes and crisp bacon amp up the open-face sandwich, and fresh sweet corn shines in the cold soup.” You can find vegetables, cheese, and bacon at our Wednesday Market booths today!
